The American 2008 Presidential Campaigns
0. Quick Warnings On a personal note, I have spent way too much time preparing this topic that I will not allow anything to go wrong. If you wish to loud mouth, please know that an equivalent Bash Topic already exists. This information is as relevant as possible on the date of creation. By this I mean to enhance the fact that the world moves on, and not necessarily what is already written. So I ask you please forgive me if some details change as the campaigns advance. When it comes to voting, all of America will not be voting for the same person. That in mind, we wish to remind you that you will most probably see people expressing views which are not yours, and which may even contradict you. This is not an attack and we are all allowed to have our different opinions
I. Introduction After 8 years in the White House, President George W. Bush will be leaving in early 2009, when his mandate expires. To replace him as President of the United States of America are many candidates who have been elected, for the most, by their representing parties. After all the votes are cast in, Inauguration Day is planned for the 20th of January 2009, where the new President will start his/her Terms in Office and will swear his/her Presidential Oaths.
II. The Candidates There are many candidates to the White House, contrary to what most believe. Indeed, each party nominates their running candidate after inwards elections. However, some also choose to run independently of any political party. As such they must register formally at with the proper authorities. Each candidate has their own political agenda, and therefore to simplify the reading, I've chosen to list the ones with the highest expected vote share with links to their personal campaign sites as well as photos (when found).

America must vote for Barack Obama to signal its willingness to accept change & move forward. A vote for McCain will just demonstrate that nothing has changed & the US wants more of what Bush has already given.
Unfortunately I fear that America cannot bring itself to be bold enough to put Obama in the White House, _________________ Cheers,

I personally think that... America is in for a rough time
Either they vote McCain, who is hated by the "World" (at least he is around here), who is depicted as "The New, Improved Bush"... Or they vote Obama, who is new in all domains. Can America hold with such a new visage? Can Obama take it?
I think in either case, it could be interesting.
Ofcourse, if I were to vote, it'd be on Obama. When I was smaller, war in Iraq, yeah go for it. Fooled once but not twice _________________

Why do people in England depict McCain as "The New Bush" He is not very well liked by a good majority of Rebublicans, including Bush, for his far left wing views. He is critized quite a bit for being too liberal and the republicans are fearing too much change from him. Exactly what Obama is trying to sell.
As for France, Well I can understand that. France has a very high Muslim population and, although Obama is not a Muslim, that does give him a upper edge with the people of France so I've read.
This will come down to the lesser of two evils. It will be McCain IMO because when it comes down to it, not many identify with the logic of hiring a day trader to run a company like Merrill Lynch. People will identify with a war hero that gave his life for his country.

What?!
Indeed, in France we have a high number of muslims, but French people are racists to the bitter end. If anything, it's as you put it "the less of two evils"...
See, that's what's really bothering me about the campaign: McCain doesn't get an ounce of spotlight and what the media is feeding us is apparently false. With all this dis-information I'm actually glad I can't vote
IMO, if things continue like this though, it seems impossible for McCain to win. Obama is raising funds like never seen before and is ensuring he keeps the spotlight at all times. Basically, what McCain can do, so can Obama but with three times as much funds behind, so he can do it more. Money is a big brick towards the White House, Obama's brick looks like its in Gold _________________

You hit the nail on the head here. It may be a problem abroad but a bigger issue in the States since the media outlets favor Democrats. Unfortunately people in America do not do their research and rely too heavy on TV and Newspapers to base their opinions on verses watching the candidates speak.
Obama is a great speaker and that is where most of the hype is coming from. If people would read into his words verses being distracted by his ability to speak he would not be running.

Hey, that's life though
I mean, if it it WAS important what you did, presidential candidates wouldn't need surgery (Hilary & McCain), nor would they need to buy ads and TV spots _________________
