BUCHAREST, Romania - Thousands of fans booed pop star Madonna after she spoke out against the discrimination of Gypsies in eastern Europe during one of her concerts.
Madonna paused in the two-hour concert to say that Gypsies, also known as Roma, were discriminated against in eastern Europe. She said that made her “sad” and nobody should be discriminated against.
Thousands in the crowd of 60,000 booed her. She did not react.

Roma musicians and a Roma dancer were featured
in her show, held just yards from the giant palace of ex-communist
dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. Their performances were applauded by the
crowd.
There are
officially some 500,000 Roma in Romania, but the real number could be
around 2 million. They face prejudice and discrimination in Romania and
other east European nations.

I have heard about this as well and she has been booed because Gypsies are not seen well in Romania.
Why? Because more then 70% of them break the law repetitively. From small stuff like a theft to other much worst crimes. I personally really have nothing against them since they are people just like we are and every country has it's bad seeds, it's bad people that drag it down but another big reason why Gypsies have started to be seen worst in Romania is because they started visiting more and more foreign countries and embarrass us by breaking the law the same way they do it here in Romania.

When they are caught by the local police of the foreign country in which they broke the law they say they are Romanians, not Gypsies, not Romas or anything else. Thus us, the Romanians have started to be seen very bad all over Europe.
I am not saying we don't have our bad Romanians, We have a lot of those as well but overall the proportion of Gypsies that break the law is much, much, much higher then the Romanians that break the laws inside or outside of the country.

There was a guy who worked in our garden at some point. He was Romanian and damn did he work hard. Same pay as a regular here, but at least 3 times the efficiency. Trust me not all Romanians give a bad reputation Razz

Concerning Gypsies, we got the same problem over here. When they show up in the region, things and small items grow legs... It's not exactly a positive streak for ther image

I agree but everyone knows that masses of people can be influenced very easily.
