The History of the Orbital Century

By the end of the 22nd century, the world was tired of war, and a new order called the Azure Earth Organization was established. In order to "heal" the planet from the scars of previous wars, the AEO began the construction of gigantic space colonies. These colossal structures became home to billions who chose to seek a new life in space. This marked the beginning of a new calendar, the Orbital Century. For two centuries, Earth and the colonies existed harmoniously

Many years later, the AEO began to use the colonies for profit. Millions of people in space were forced to work without pay as miners on asteroids near Mars. Because if this, the AEO became tremendously prosperous, while most people in the colonies began to sink into poverty.

The Sparks of War
The colonies responded by keeping the asteroid mines for themselves. When the AEO enforced harsher rules and military force, the colonists fought back by bombing several AEO installations in space. This act of defiance spawned many colony leaders, and eventually, the Chrome Government. In retaliation, AEO forces hi-jacked a colony in Langrange point L-02 and rammed it into another, resulting in a massive explosion that caused several colonies nearby to lose their orbit and drift to space. It was estimated that 200 million colonists were killed in this incident, which was later known as the L-02 Tragedy. This cluster of colonies were declared uninhabitable in OC 275, and became a massive space graveyard instead.

The 1st Chrome Movement (276-286)
Angered by this act of genocide the Chrome Supreme Chancellor, Efren Gravebrood, ordered his military to drop an asteroid 1 km in size to Earth, hitting Greece and destroying several countries in the Mediterranean area. On March 24th, year 276, the AEO officially declared a full scale war against Chrome and the colonies. The very next day, Chrome declared the same against AEO and Earth. The war raged on for 10 years, culminating in a major battle in the European front. By the time the conflict ended in OC 286, the first Mobile Suits have already been created. These machines proved to be very essential in the AEO's victory.

And now...

The year is Orbital Century 299... Tensions are building up between the Azure Earth Organization and the newly resurrected Chrome Government. With the Chrome now possessing mobile suits of their own, war is once again just on the horizon.

Mobile Suit Legends Nexus Era Story and Guidelines

I. The Nexus Era...
-2299 AD was the last year of the then-current calendar. By that time, massive artificial habitats called "space colonies" were already set in orbit. To commemorate the end of the century, the United Nations decided to adopt a new calendar. The new calendar system was named after the word "nexus" which means "gateway"... for this new age marked man's first bold step into realm of the stars. The dawn of the Nexus Era then began...

A new government was also formed from most of the Earth's nations. The Azure Earth Organization or AEO was founded on July 5, N.E. 0021 and served as a mutual defense organization. Because the establishment of the new calendar system angered many religious and political groups, the AEO became necessary to maintain peace and order through military interventions. By N.E. 0027, all nations and colonies were finally united under the AEO.

II. Rise of the CHROME
-For more than 200 years, both Earth and the Colonies prospered under a golden age. The economy was flourishing as trade between the colonists and the Earthnoids brought forth huge advances in the fields of medicine, science, technology and culture. Despite this seemingly peaceful time, the space colonists were actually considered "secondary citizens" and were not allowed to hold the highest positions in the AEO government. It was because of this oppression that certain colonies decided to break away from the AEO. Under the leadership of Vorador Ochii, a prominet colonial leader, the group Colonial Harmonious Reformation Of Mobile Empowerment (CHROME) was formed in N.E. 0257.

III. The Comet Wars
-CHROME strived for peaceful reforms but the AEO refused to listen, the latter stating that only those who were born on Earth were worthy enough to lead the world. To reinforce their point, and to stop the growing anti-AEO sentiment, AEO ceased trading with CHROME in N.E. 0263 and instead redirected trading to only the colonies on Moon and Mars. The internal economy of the space colonies then stared to collapse.

Feeling the iron grip of the AEO, Vorador Ochii secretly traded with the colonies on Mars as well, acquiring resources just enough to build a military force previously unseen or unheard of in history. On August 9, N.E. 00267, many objects appearing to be comets appeared near the Earth's atmosphere, destroying the defense satellites in orbit as well as AEO's space stations. It was later revealed that the comets were actually giant humanoid machines, capable of great firepower and agility compared to AEO's jet fighters. These machines were the first Mobile Suits.

Because AEO outnumbered the CHROME greatly, some of these Mobile Suits were captured by the AEO and became the basis for their own Mobile Suits. By N.E. 0283, Mobile Suit combat became the standard form of warfare. The two sides declared a truce on December 25, N.E. 0290, following Vorador Ochii's death, finally ending the 23-year-long Comet Wars.

IV. Post-Comet Wars...
CHROME collapsed back into the AEO on N.E. 0299. One of Ochii's daughters was married the son of the AEO Chairman to show unity. However, she was found cheating by her husband, and was shot to death. Her brother, a former CHROME general, took revenge and killed her husband. This was misinterpreted by the AEO as another uprising, and many former CHROME individuals were executed. CHROME was reborn. And so is war. The Aesir Wolves were created by the AEO to hunt down these CHROME remnants.
