|  Hip hop star Akon pleaded not guilty monday to criminal charges filed after he tossed a 15-year-old boy off the stage at a concert earlier this year. The star was released on his own recognizance following
his brief court appearance in Fishkill. He was charged with endangering
the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment.
Another fan, Abby Rosa said she suffered a concusion when a teenage boy Akon threw off the stage fell on her during the June 3 concert at the local minor league baseball stadium. The case was adjourned until January. A
town justice told Akon that his lawyer can stand in for him at future
court appearances and he does not have to appear. Akon did not comment
as he left the courthouse.
“It was never Akon’s intention to violate the law,” the singer’s Manhattan lawyer said. “This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets.”
Akon’s
latest album, “Konvicted,” has sold more than 1 million copies in the
United States. His hits include “Don’t Matter,” “I Wanna Love You” with
Snoop Dogg and “Smack That” with Eminem. | |

| Saw the vid on this. It was pretty irresponsible of him and deserves what ever he gets. Not so much for the boy as the boy threw something dangerous at Akon, but for the innocent girl that got injured. | |

| I hope he gets more then a slap on the wrists for this 2. This isnt his 1st mess with his fans onstage dragging him to court. Just a few months ago he wa hauled in for dry humping a 15 yr old at a concert onstage and the video footage leaked to youtube, making the case even worse for him  What an idiot. Thank god this girl is ok tho. Akon needs to seriously re think his performance strategy in a whole. Maybe he should stop requesting fans come on stage with him at all, especially if its getting him this kinda static over and over. But on the totally joking tip : Fan tossing could be fun.  Hey, I'd so let Jon Bon Jovi toss me into a wall if he wanted to an keep coming back for more.  | |
