Uma Thurman calls off engagement

Actress splits with long-distance fiance, Arpad Busson





The actress broke off her year-long engagement
to Swiss multimillionaire Arpad “Arki” Busson on Nov. 15. “The
engagement ended awhile back — almost two months ago,” says a source.
“They remain friends.”
The couple began dating in the summer of 2007, and one year later, Busson proposed with an 8-plus carat engagement ring .
Just don’t expect to see that ring on Thurman’s finger anytime soon.
“She will probably give it back,” says the source. “She wants to return
everything that is his.”



A rep for the actress had no comment.
Perhaps
their long-distance love affair was a factor. In September, Thurman,
39, admitted she wasn’t planning to marry her London-based fiancé
anytime soon. “I’m happily engaged but we haven’t set a wedding up,” she told W magazine. “I’m not in a rush to do anything. One day
we’ll do it, when we’re ready. We can’t live anywhere else because my
children’s father lives here. We’ll figure it out.”
Apparently, Busson is “beside himself” that they weren’t able to figure things out.
The businessman has two sons with his former flame, supermodel Elle MacPherson , and Thurman has a son and daughter with ex-husband Ethan Hawke.
